We turn the corner onto Eleventh and find another a set of stairs into the
same lot. From this angle you can see that, even though you could get nowhere with
only one step, you can also get there the long way. They reach the same destination
because nowhere is a tremendously vast place, which defies the spatial three-dimensionality
of the ordinary universe.
Poison Pie says that this nowhere stands in the same spot where
the boarded up house burned down at the start of the summer. It's entirely possible that he is right;
one of the funny things about nowhere is that you can find it in darkness, behind boarded
or shuttered windows, like the windows that had been in that house. You can also find it in the light, and especially in the light of
a fire, which, as you can see, has long since been extinguished by the good people of the
Knoxville Fire Department.
