• commentary: Joseph Michael Linsner created covers for four issues from Dynamite's initial 80-issue series, including this A cover to the fiftieth issue. In this cover, we first see hints of the style that will become Linsner's signature depiction of Red Sonja. The impaled head is a nod to the cover he drew for the first issue (shown above). This same head makes later appearances as well, including in 2019.

• commentary: Joseph Michael Linsner is the only artist to have drawn covers for all issues of Red Sonja (2019) to date. They are all B variants, following the A covers from issues #1 to #12 of Amanda Conner and the subsequent A covers by Jae Lee. When Jenny Frison and Stephanie Buscema were asked to draw covers for all 18 issues of Gail Simone's interpretation of Red Sonja (2013), they chose to present Red Sonja in 18 different common themes for our heroine, which were not directly related to the unfolding narrative (particularly in the case of Buscema). Linsner's series of covers follow the story a little more closely, although each cover cannot allways be directly connected to a particular scene.
