    • commentary: Sergio Davila drew this set of connecting covers linking the first issues of the 2016 series for Red Sonja, Vampirella & Dejah Thoris. The five covers by Davila on this page present Red Sonja in slightly different styles. • artists: Jack Jadson, Valentine & Jim Calafiore
  • issue: #5 of 5
  • release date: March, 2014
  • cover: A cover
  • commentary: In the final issue of Legends of Red Sonja, Jay Anacleto pairs Red Sonja with a tiger. Anacleto employs a particular method of painting, which results in a distinctive speckled look in many of his covers. This effect is especially visible when applied to flesh. All of the Legends of Red Sonja covers were quite striking. In addition to the two that appear on this page, the other three appear in galleries with themes of Thrones, Animals and Seduction.

8

  • publisher: Dynamite
  • cover artist: Jay Anacleto

  • release date: January, 2015
  • cover: A Cover
  • commentary: Anacleto drew the A covers to all five issues of Red Sonja: Vulture's Circle (2015). He uses the same painting technique, although it appears more subdued in the shadows.

  • writer: Marguerite Bennett
  • artist: Mirka Andolfo

  • release date: 2015
  • commentary: Anacleto created the A covers for all three issues of Swords of Sorrow: Red Sonja & Jungle Girl. The other two issues are featured in the galleries devoted to Companions and Demons. For the interested, Anacleto also is responsible for the covers to another series in the Swords of Sorrow crossover event, Swords of Sorrow: Dejah Thoris & Irene Adler. Finally, keeping to the theme of R.E. Howard, Anacleto created covers for all five issues of Marvel's Age of Conan: Valeria (2019).

10

  • title: Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil (2019)
  • publisher: Dynamite
  • cover artist: Jay Anacleto
  • writer: Luke Lieberman
  • artist: Sergio Davila
  • issue: #1 of 4
  • retailer exclusive variant: Unknown Comics
  • release date: June, 2019
  • commentary: In this retailer's exclusive virgin variant to the first issue of Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil, Anacleto applies the speckled effect to Red Sonja's skin to a greater extent than on any other cover. While the effect is certainly unusual, we don't fully understand its origin; it's not as if Red Sonja exists in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where she has been exposed to dangerous doses of radiation.
