  • commentary: The graphic adaptation of the 1985 Film "Red Sonja" was published in two formats. A single-issue magazine, appeared as issue #38 of the Marvel Comics Super Special (1977) in November, 1985. In the same month, a two issue comic book also appeared with the same interior content. The cover of the first issue of the comic and the magazine are similar in the positions of the figures, but the faces in this cover more closely resemble the actress, Briggitte Nielsen, who played an excellent Red Sonja, and Arnold Schwartzenegger, who played a Conan-like figure named, for licensing reasons, not Conan but Kalidor.

We have featured covers from Red Sonja (1985) in galleries with themes including
    • Wilshire: #10
    • Overlooked Marvel Issues: #6
