Eugenia tried to run back to her uncles' tower but by now, of course, she was irretreivably lost. The forest grew strange and darker. Unidentifiable growths emerged from the soft soil beneath her feet. A high-pitched voice pierced the forest in the distance. Eugenia stopped running.
