magical power mako: hapmoniym 1
cd - mom and dad records - mom 004 - 1995 - japan
keiji haino (voice - track 1 fragment)
guest appearance recordings, entry 2

This release was recorded in 1972 and released in 1995. Why was there a 23 year lag between the recording and the first release of the recording? I don't know. Haino appears on this release. He is uncredited, although mentioned in the thanks. This is a single track cd about 43 minutes long. Haino appears on a fragment of the cd for a span of 6 minutes and 10 seconds (37:16-43:26) on the song Look up the sky. This is a different version of the song than appears on Magical Power. This cd was volume 1 of a planned 15 cd release on Mom and Dad Records (MoM 004-018). In 1995, Hapmoniym volumes 1-5 were released in limited, numbered editions as MoM 004-008. So far as I know, volumes 6-15 were never released. Of the 5 volumes released, Haino appears only on volume 1. There is no reason to believe that Haino appeared on the unreleased volumes.

This box contains three complete releases and one previously released track. The originally releases are Buried Secrets, Guts of a Virgin, and the three cd release Execution Ground, all of which appeared earlier on various labels, including Toy's Factory (Japan), Earache (UK), Subharmonic (US). Disk one includes one "bonus" track, which features Keiji Haino on guitar: "Marianne" -- Painkiller with Makigami Koichi and Keiji Haino originally released on the recording "Koroshi no Blues", (reviewed here). The original Pain Killer releases were pretty highly thought of when they were released. Have they stood the test of time? I don't know. Go ask someone else.

These five cds were originally released as five individual cds in limited editions by Naohiro Ukawa's label, MoM 'n' DaD, as HAPMONIYM Volumes 1 through 5 in 1995. Haino appears on volume one. The Haino contribution is limited to a one song, which is a six minute fragment of the single track disc 1, (reviewed here). In early 2000, the Atavistic records website listed this boxed set as a forthcoming release with catalogue number, ALP109-113BX, and a projected release date of Summer 2000. This boxed set has not been released by Atavistic. Later, Mio Records offered these cds for sale individually with catalog numbers Mio 001 through Mio 005.
