New Release:
There is a solo Haino release on Sub Pop titled Whenever Wherever, Quietly Plotting, So That It Can Keep On Becoming (Resonating). It can be purchased as a digital file. A seven inch vinyl record can be purchased only through a subscription to the Sub Pop Singles Club. More information is posted in the solo live section of the discography. Warning: The digital file can be purchased without an account at the Sub Pop online store. However, doing so does not generate a webpage or email with the download link. Apparently, the download link can only be accessed with an account. Our attempts to create an account with the store failed, as the confirmation email generated during the registration process never arrived in our inbox. As such, we have not been able to access our copy of the digital file. |

New/Forthcoming Release:
The bandcamp.com page for the new record by the trio of Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi, titled "Caught In The Dilemma Of Being Made To Choose" This Makes The Modesty Which Should Never Been Closed Off Itself Continue To Ask Itself: "Ready Or Not?" is now posted. The official release date is October 28, 2022. Copies of the double lp without a download code are being sold by other shops prior to this release date. New Release:
Old Heaven Books of Shenzhen, China is releasing their second record that includes Keiji Haino. The first release was a Haino solo album, The Meaning of Blackness, recorded in 2015 and released in 2020. This new release is a collaboration with FaUSt. The particular capitalization indicates the duo of Jean-Hervé Péron and Werner "Zappi" Diermaier post the 2004 split of Faust. Haino had an earlier collaboration with Faust documented on Rien, released in 1995. The title of the 2022 release is This is the Right Path. As of now, the music is available only via digital download. However, the bandcamp page is selling pre-orders in various physical media with a December 20, 2022 release date. A new recording by the duo of Keiji Haino and Okinawa Electric Girl Saya has been released. The duo is going under the name Seiko and the title of the album is Yuraku, which translates as pleasure. The three-track cd was sold at the release party concert on July 29, 2022. More information is posted in the other collaborations section of the discography. |

A new release containing live performances from two concerts by Peter Brötzmann and Keiji Haino has been announced. The title is The intellect given birth to here (eternity) is too young. It is released either as a boxed set with four vinyl lps or as a digital download. The release date is September 12, 2022. There is a limited number of boxed sets being sold with a reissue of the Brötzmann/Haino 3" cd (BE-1002, 2018), sold out on bandcamp but still available at time of posting from the label. A new live album has been released featuring a collaboration with Keiji Haino and the trio Marteau Rouge (which consists of Jean-Marc Foussat, Jean-François Pauvros & Makoto Sato). The release is available either as digital files through bandcamp or on compact disc directly from the French label Fou Records or international distributors (e.g. Squidco in the USA). It is a recording from April 7, 2019 at Zebulon, Los Angeles, California. The release can be ordered either through bandcamp or from the label directly. Our copy arrived in the mail today. Late Entry to the discography:
There was a double dvd release by Jean-François Pauvros titled, 7 Films de Guy Girard, which contains significant Haino content. Disc two includes a 42 minute film with a soundtrack by the trio of François Causse, Jean-François Pauvros & Keiji Haino. This item was released in November of 2019 but passed unnoticed by us. We picked it up at the end of 2021, but took another three months to add it to the discography. More information is posted in the video section of the discography. |

The announcement also indicates that Black Editions is relaunching Keiji Haino's own Purple Trap imprint, suggesting that more releases are to follow. For the curious, by our count, this is the sixth hurdy gurdy solo album from Haino, the last being released in 2008. (Three of the previous five releases were single cd releases of only hurdy gurdy and voice, while the other two were double cd releases in which one compact disc featured hurdy gurdy and vocals, while the second disc contained other instruments.) |
