New Lyrics:   The reissue of Ama No Gawa, (Milky Way) contains for the first time an English translation of the liner notes, courtesy of Alan Cummings. These notes include a vintage poem by Haino.

New Reissue:   Oren Ambarchi's Black Truffle Records has reissued Ama No Gawa, (Milky Way), on vinyl with a release date of November 25, 2016. This is a recording of a voluminous, solo live performance of Haino in 1973. It was previously released on Mom and Dad Records of Japan in 1993 on compact disc and is long out-of-print. This reissue has been added to the discography under the original Ama No Gawa entry. We have not been counting reissues as a separate entry in the discography, so the total number of entries in the discography has not been updated.

Forthcoming Release:   The studio recording of the trio of Keiji Haino, Jozef Dumoulin and Teun Verbruggen originally scheduled for November 26, 2016 appears to have been postponed until January 27, 2017. The recording will be released on the Sub Rosa label on both cd and lp. The title is Miracles of Only One Thing. The recording was made during the September, 2015 tour of Japan by Dumoulin and Verbruggen. An entry has been placed in the "forthcoming" section of the discography.

Forthcoming Reissue:   Oren Ambarchi's Black Truffle Records is set to reissue Ama No Gawa, (Milky Way), on vinyl with a release date of November 25, 2016. This is a recording of a voluminous, solo live performance of Haino in 1973. It was previously released on Mom and Dad Records of Japan in 1993 on compact disc. For those who recall the earlier announcement that Black Editions of Los Angeles will be reissuing a significant portion of the PSF back catalog, including many released by Haino, on vinyl, this most recently announced reissue is an entirely unrelated development.

The recording will be released on the Sub Rosa label. The title is not yet known. The recording was made during the September, 2015 tour of Japan by Dumoulin and Verbruggen.

New Release:   Cafe OTO, a venue in London, is now selling a live recording of the duo performance of Keiji Haino (electric guitar, flute) and Steve Noble (drums) from February 28, 2012 at https://www.cafeoto.co.uk/shop/keiji-haino-steve-noble/.

In terms of the maintenance of the discography, we have to make a decision regarding whether this release should be listed as an official release or a bootleg. Certainly, many live recordings have been issued as official releases--all of the recent releases by the trio of Haino, O'Rourke & Ambarchi have been recordings of live shows. That they have seen release on cd or lp on a label with a catalog number helps identify them as an official release (although, there certainly have been well organized bootleg labels with catalog numbers that release recordings on cd or lp without the artists's consent.) Ultimately, it is not the existence of a material release or a label name or number that distinguishes an official recording from an unofficial recording, but the consent of the artist. At least that is the metric that we use on this site. In a spirit of optimism, this recording has been added to the "collaborations section" of the discography.

Link:   Mary Halvorson vs. Régis Faller: A Juxtaposition of Four-fold Reviews

Our friends over at the International Journal of Exploratory Meta-Living have just published a new (seventh) issue of the journal featuring a highly geometric review of four albums by the American guitarist, Ms. Mary Halvorson, and four children's books by the French author and illustrator, Mr. Régis Faller. Interested readers are encouraged to check the issue out via free, anonymous download.

The second issue of IJEML, which featured an article titled, Music for a Sunny Day, and described an hour long playlist of music by Keiji Haino for just such an occasion remains available via free, anonymous download. The issue was also translated into Japanese by Mr. Takeshi Goda and is available on his blog, A Challenge to Fate.

These releases include at least 39 releases (by my count) with Keiji Haino participating, notably Haino's first lp, "Watashi-dake" and all of the Fushitsusha releases on PSF.
