If the reader enjoyed this post-existential romantic fantasy, then the author recommends that the reader follow up with The Ruined Map by Kobo Abé, published in Japanese in 1967 and in English in 1969. It is a novel that treats the same topic, the search of a spouse for the missing partner, and it is this novel upon which Wouldn't the Wood Weird is loosely modeled. That a reader ultimately should find the treatment of the subject by Abé superior to that presented herein will most assuredly come as no surprise to anyone, least of all to the author of this present work.
