A Bestiary of East Tennessee

A Bestiary of East Tennessee
Illustrated in Felt
by the Keffer Family

Description: A Bestiary of East Tennessee presents an encyclopedia of the creatures, mundane and exotic, dwelling in East Tennessee and other proximate locations. Illustrated in felt by the Keffer family, the book is filled with felt finger puppets and photographs from wild places. It is intended for both children and adventurous adults.

The Keffer family--David, Lynn, Ruth & Joseph--have released five illustrated books combining the three crafts of home-made felt finger puppets, local photography and narrative story-telling. The design and creation of the puppets, the choice of locales for photographic backgrounds and the elements of the story are collaborative activities involving all members of the family.

Twenty-six finger puppets appearing within make their literary debut in A Bestiary of East Tennessee, although two had a brief cameo in Jacob's Dream.

Of neither interest nor significance to virtually anyone, A Bestiary of East Tennessee is the result of a non-idiomatic improvisational creative process.
